This month has seen a huge number of celebrations taking place to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday - including a spectacular pageant held in Windsor Great Park, England. Not to be outdone, the three BSN junior schools held their own celebrations to mark this auspicious occasion.
At Leidschenveen, the ‘Queen’ made an appearance and gave the children ‘waving’ lessons and even joined the whole school for lunch outside on the Yellow Brick Road. The children at Vlaskamp were extremely industrious making scones, crowns and flags ahead of their whole school garden party. Year 1 children made chariots for the royal corgis Year 2 thought about what they would do if they were Queen – their suggestions included sharing money out for everyone and making sure there is enough land for animals and humans to live together. At Diamanthorst, the children had been busy making bunting and decorated their school beautifully and in the afternoon had a special birthday party complete with games and strawberries and cream. The whole school had their photo taken and wished Her Majesty a “Happy Birthday” at the tops of their voices.
The BSN is also featured in the official commemorative publication for The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration which will be presented as a gift to VIP guests at the special Royal Birthday Parties held in Windsor and attended by our Principal, Kieran Earley. Copies of book – and the official event programme – can be ordered online at www.hmq90books.com.
Staff around the BSN recorded the events across a range of social media which we've pulled together into one place to give you the whole picture. Take a look at our BSN Story.
