Continued success for BSN Swimmer at National Level

Sport Achievements


Following his exceptional performance at the Regional Swimming Championships, BSN student Sean N. went on to compete against the nation’s best swimmers at the 2018 Dutch Junior National Championships which were held in Eindhoven over the weekend.

During the four days of the competition, Sean competed in a total of 11 events (8 individual and 3 relays) and went on to win an astounding 9 medals (2 Gold, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze). Sean finished as Dutch National Champion in the 200 IM and swam the butterfly leg as part of the championship winning team in the competition’s scintillating finale, the 4x100 medley relay event.

Over the course of the season, Sean has also competed in the Junior National Circuit competition. This circuit comprises seven separate competitions where the 10 best individual performances (measured in FINA points) by swimmers are totaled to determine the best performing athletes throughout the country. Sean scored an amazing 5832 points, nearly 300 points clear of his nearest competitor, finishing the season as the most successful junior swimmer in the Netherlands for the 2017-2018 season!

Sean was also successful in his attempt to achieve the qualifying time for the European Youth Olympic Festival in the 50 m freestyle, swimming a time of 23.95, and now awaits the decision of the selectors as to whether he will be able to travel to Riga to represent the Netherlands at this years competition in July.

Summary of medals

Golds: 200 IM and the 4x100 medley relay

Silvers: 50 freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 50 butterfly, 100 butterfly, 4x200 freestyle relay

Bronze: 400 freestyle and the 4x100 freestyle relay
