On 9 March 2025, the BSN (The British School in the Netherlands) community came together to represent the school in the City-Pier-City (CPC) Loop (CPC Run). An annual tradition – it was the 49th edition this year! – it is the largest running event in The Hague and attracts tens of thousands of participants and visitors of all ages each year.

Around 450 students from across each of our four campuses – Junior School Leidschenveen, Junior School Vlaskamp, Senior School Leidschenveen and Senior School Voorschoten – many together with parent ‘coaches’, along with around 60 members of BSN staff, participated in this year’s event, each running the 1K, 2.5K, 5K, 10K or Half Marathon. Despite it being March, we enjoyed uncharacteristically sunny, warm weather, which put us in great spirits for running!

It was a great day and lovely weather to be outside in. The friendly faces and snacks available at Zein played a huge part in how enjoyable it was - thank you to the BSN for providing both the facilities on the day and on the Malieveld!

I'm very pleased with my time - I ran the 5K race in 23 mins!

A huge well done to every member of our community who took part this year. Some amazing times and personal bests were achieved, and we are extremely proud of each and every one of you!

I'm happy I did the 2.5K - I'm proud of myself.

The CPC Run has been a recurring BSN tradition for many years, and the infectious atmosphere and community feel mean it is a much-loved event for many, as well as one of the highlights of the Spring Term. A big thank you to all of the BSN staff, parents and students who volunteered their time to make the event a success, including Catherine van Renen (Junior School Leidschenveen) for coordinating the student races and Roxanne Bouma-Levin for coordinating the event for staff. Our community’s support is invaluable! A special thanks to Zein International Childcare, who kindly hosted our staff at their The Estate location.

Running alongside my friends in the CPC was amazing, as it was lots of fun. We tried our best to run really fast. I loved that we all got our medals together too, as it felt like a good achievement.

The training I participated in through the school helped and it [5K] was better than I expected.

Next year will mark the 50th edition of the CPC Run on 15 March 2026 – many of our community already can't wait to take part!

I will be doing the 50th CPC next year (assuming I can avoid injuries!), It's a great well-organised local run, with lots of the public coming out in support all along the route.
