We were delighted to open our doors again after a long summer, welcoming (back) students, families, and staff on each of our four campuses, Junior School Leidschenveen (JSL), Junior School Vlaskamp (JSV), Senior School Leidschenveen (SSL) and Senior School Voorschoten (SSV) for the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
Welcome Back, New BSN Families!
Prior to the first day back, on 30 August, the BSN held its annual Welcome Day for not only new BSN families – but families making the exciting move to Senior School! Welcome Day provides an opportunity for students and families to visit classrooms, meet class teachers and classmates (maybe even make a new friend or two!) and tour campuses, with the aim of, hopefully, easing some of the well-known first-day nerves ahead of the first day on Monday!
At the Leidschenveen campus and Senior School Voorschoten, the day was rounded off with a delicious barbecue, allowing families and students to meet and mingle with other families and BSN staff. it was fantastic to meet – and welcome back – so many of our families and students!
A big thank you to all our campus staff and student volunteers involved in the event. Of course, the day wouldn’t be possible without our Admissions Team and the support of the BSN Family Association. A special thank you, also, to our partners Zein International Childcare and The Hague International Centre for their attendance.
A Milestone for Senior School Leidschenveen
A major milestone for SSL was welcoming their very first cohort of Year 13 students! It’s hard to believe that they will leave the BSN at the end of this school year, many of them having attended SSL since Year 7 – some starting their BSN journey in Foundation Stage! We wish them the very best of luck during this pivotal year.
The BSN's New Look
Introducing the BSN’s new look! At the end of last school year, we introduced our new BSN uniform. Created in close consultation with our student and parent community, the new uniform aims to honour our school's proud tradition whilst meeting our community's practical needs. It also features our new BSN logo. Many BSN students wore their new uniforms with pride on the first day!
That First Day Feeling
Since the founding of the BSN – back in 1931, when it was still The English School in The Hague, operating out of a single rented room – there have been many ‘first days’ of new school years, but one thing remains constant: the excitement and energy that comes with a new school year. We are looking forward to seeing what this year will bring.
We wish everyone in the BSN community a wonderful year ahead!
