Achievements Sixth Form

The British School in the Netherlands (BSN) congratulates all the A-Level and BTEC students from the Class of 2024 who received their results today, 15 August 2024. This year’s results underscore the hard work, dedication, and resilience of the students, who have once again set a high standard of academic excellence.

Patrick Heuff, Headteacher of Senior School Voorschoten, expressed his pride:

Congratulations to all the A-Level and BTEC students today on the fantastic results you have achieved! Our students have shown immense commitment, and it’s heartening to see their hard work reflected in these outstanding outcomes.

We also owe a huge debt of gratitude to our teachers, whose unwavering support has been instrumental in guiding our students to success over the past two years."

Celebrating the Achievements of the BSN’s Class of 2024

As a non-selective school, BSN is particularly proud of the impressive A-Level and BTEC results achieved this year. Notably, 28% of all grades were awarded A*-A, and an impressive 75% were graded A*-C.

The BTEC results have been equally commendable. The pass rate for BTEC was 100%, a testament to their dedication and the high-quality instruction they received. Students enrolled in the Hospitality and Creative Media programmes achieved Distinction*.

Mr Heuff highlighted the scope of the students’ achievements:

"These results are not just a reflection of academic success; they speak to the growth and development our students have experienced during their time at BSN. I am incredibly proud of their progress and know they will do great things as they venture beyond the BSN.”

World-Ready BSN Students Secure Places at Top Universities Across the Globe

The Class of 2024 has earned placements at some of the world’s leading universities. Our students will attend prestigious institutions such as Leiden University (the Netherlands), Universiteit Utrecht (the Netherlands), University of Groningen (the Netherlands), University of Bath (UK), Rutgers University (the United States), University of Edinburgh (Scotland), Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands), The University of Warwick (UK), Charles University (Prague), University of Bristol (UK), South East Technological University (Ireland), KU Leuven (Belgium), IED (Italy), Nile University (Nigeria), Constructor University (Germany), Brighton & Sussex (UK), Royal Academy of Art The Hague (the Netherlands), and Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands).

Not only are the destinations varied and incredibly international, but our students will go on to study a hugely diverse range of subjects, highlighting the breadth of interests represented in this class. Some of the chosen areas of study include Pilot Studies, Film Production, Journalism, Nano Biology, Hospitality, Aerospace Engineering, Global Sustainability Science, Teaching, Nursing, Astronomy, Sports Therapy, and Fashion Design, and six students are going on to study Medicine. Our dedicated Careers team has supported students in finding programmes across the world that suit their interests and help them take their next steps towards their goals and aspirations.

These results, alongside our exceptional IB outcomes celebrated in July, highlight the diverse and comprehensive education that BSN provides.

A Return to the Pre-pandemic Grade Boundaries

As reported by the UK media, this year’s A-Level and BTEC results return to the pre-pandemic grade boundaries. After several years of turbulence, the results achieved by the 2024 class of BSN students are even more impressive, reflecting their diligence and sustained hard work over the last two years. Mr Heuff commented, “We were very pleased to see today's results align with our historic results in 2019.”

The Support from the BSN Community

Behind every student’s success is the collective support of the BSN community. The dedication of our teachers, the encouragement from families, and the camaraderie among peers have all played a crucial role in these achievements.

As a school, we are grateful to all the families who have chosen the BSN for their children, whether you have been at the school for the Sixth Form or since the Foundation Stage.

Mr Heuff concluded:

As our graduates transition from students to alumni, we look forward to welcoming them back to share their experiences and continue to inspire future generations of BSN students.

Congratulations to the Class of 2024!
