SSV Students Inducted Into BSN Quill & Scroll Charter

On Tuesday 9 May 2023, ten of our Senior School Voorschoten (SSV) students at The British School in The Netherlands (BSN) were inducted into the prestigious honorary society, Quill & Scroll – a momentous occasion!

Quill & Scroll, established in 1926 at the University of Iowa’s Journalism School, is an international honorary society for secondary school journalists. With Charters in many countries worldwide, the organisation aims to promote, recognise and encourage individual and group achievements in school journalism. Last year, the BSN was delighted to start its own Charter, named after the BSN Archivist and long-standing staff member Mike Weston – the BSN Mike Weston Charter.

The ten students, each with outstanding writing talent, were selected to represent the BSN in this year’s International Writing, Photo and Multimedia Contest. After much hard work from the students researching, writing and perfecting their articles, they were inducted into the BSN Mike Weston Charter during an official ceremony. The students received membership certificates as appreciation for their exceptional work. These certificates are a reminder of their accomplishments.

“Quill & Scroll provides a platform for our students to showcase their ability to research, formulate and write thought-provoking articles on a world stage. They also become lifelong members of the University of Iowa’s Journalism School.

My colleagues and I are incredibly proud of the quality of the writing submitted to the Writing, Photography and Media competition. The bar was set truly high and we are looking forward to next year's contributions.
