While the majority of students looked forward to some well earned rest and possibly some time away with their families, BSN Senior School student Sean N. competed in the KNZB Regional Swimming Championships (Regio West), which were held over the two weekends either side of the half term break.
Sean competed in 12 events over the four days of competition, with the most important event being the 50 freestyle, where he attempted to qualify for the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF). After finishing in first place and earning the title of Regional Champion, Sean just missed his qualifying time by an infinitesimal 800ths of a second. Following the two intense weekends of competition (and training in between), he ended up with a remarkable 12 medals (9 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze).
Despite narrowly missing this chance to qualify for the EYOF, Sean will have another opportunity on 15 June at the Dutch Junior National Championships. Sean swims for the Hoofdklasse club WVZ and his focus is now firmly on preparing for the National Championships next week. We wish him all the best with his training!
