This week, a team of BSN students were invited to form part of the media crew for the launch of the International Criminal Court’s Policy on Children.
This policy seeks to improve the lives of children around the world who live in extreme conditions due to conflict, displacement, slavery and trafficking.
Our students worked together before the event to research the policy and the role of the ICC, and they read with interest the biographies of the speakers at the event. During the evening they presented with aplomb, speaking confidently to officials from the ICC, founders of NGOs and leaders of organisations who are working to stop the atrocities that children around the world face each day.
They interviewed a number of high-profile figures, including Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire, who now works tirelessly to end the use of child soldiers, and Zeinab Badawi, a celebrated BBC journalist who shared her tips for success.
We are looking forward to continuing to work with the ICC and will aim to visit them in the new year.
