Almost all subjects have completed their reform cycle started by examination boards in 2016 and GCSE courses and assessment are now more rigorous and challenging than ever before. Changes to the GCSEs reflect the UK government’s intention that these qualifications better prepare students for further study and work, are more stretching for the most able students, and are designed to be accessible to the full range of students who have traditionally taken GCSEs.

New grading for GCSEs

Paul Topping, an Executive Lead at the BSN and Headteacher of Senior School Voorschoten, is delighted that students have achieved success across the curriculum.

“An excellent work ethic and good levels of personal organisation among Year 11 students have once again led to excellent outcomes at GCSE level. We are proud to celebrate the achievements of all our students in all subjects across the curriculum and additional awards gained through Key Stage 4 in co-curricular activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award at Bronze and Silver level.

On behalf of all our staff, I would like to congratulate students and wish them well as they make preparations for programmes of study in Sixth Form. Thank you to our Mr Bennett, Head of Year, Mrs Daley, Assistant Head of Year, and the Year 11 tutor team for their support and guidance through these exam years. Our continuing success is grounded in the excellent quality of relationships at school, tireless dedication of teachers and support staff, unstinting support from families and clear direction from Governors.”

Well done to all! The whole school community can celebrate the excellent levels of academic and personal achievement that these grades represent.
