Amid great excitement and anticipation, building work officially began at the BSN’s newest campus, Senior School Leidschenveen (SSL), on 26 February 2019. Students, Headteachers, the CEO & Principal, and School Governors, together with the school’s architects and building teams gathered at the ‘breaking ground’ event, to celebrate the unveiling of the building signage and site.
There is a growing demand for places in international education around the Hague, and our new secondary school campus will allow us to continue our policy of always having a place available for every student - something we have prided ourselves on since 1931.
- CEO & Principal, Kieran Earley.
The expansion of JSL to include a secondary school will generate up to 550 additional learning places, greatly expand the existing facilities, and will enable primary and secondary schools to share a place in which to eat, perform, and present their work. The designs for the futuristic new space incorporate the latest thinking in flexible learning spaces, and a full-size sports hall.

The BSN’s commitment to environmental responsibility is evident in the new facilities’ sustainable elements that will enhance energy performance; for example, solar panels and ventilation with CO2 sensors will be incorporated. It will be a ‘Cradle to Cradle’ certified school in the Netherlands, with materials signposted for potential future re-use and recycling.
"I look forward to welcoming many more students to our state-of-the art new facilities over the coming years, "said Headteacher James Oxlade.
