Fun at the BSN FA Summer Fair

On 24 June 2023, the British School in The Netherlands (BSN) community came together for a day of summer fun at the 2023 BSN Summer Fair. Organised by the BSN Family Association (FA), the day was a celebration of everything that makes the BSN so special, as well as the warmth of our community. We were lucky enough to be treated to glorious weather, which certainly added to the summer feel! The BSN Summer Fair is a much-loved BSN event – one that is highly anticipated each year! It’s a wonderful way to round off the school year, a reminder that the summer holidays are underway.

Throughout the day, we enjoyed a variety of performances from both talented students and staff – music and singing by our school bands and BSN staff choir, dancing and gymnastics. Attendees had the opportunity to sample delicious food from around the world, including South Africa, Thailand, Ireland, Norway and India (amongst many others!). There were activities for all ages, like rock painting, a bouncy castle, tug of war and a firm favourite amongst students (unsurprisingly) – Soak a Teacher! (Thanks to our staff for being such good sports!) Additionally, thanks to donations from our community, there was also the opportunity to find new summer reading favourites at our second-hand book stall, to bring home a new furry friend at the ‘Adopt a Cuddly Toy’ stall, and to buy beautiful artisanal products made by members of our community.

Dawn Heuff, the BSN FA Fair Lead, said of the day:

“This was my family’s first year at the BSN, and helping to organise the Summer Fair was the perfect opportunity for me to get to know so many parents, staff and students.”

I have been blown away by everyone’s enthusiasm, not only for the Fair, but for the BSN as a whole. The Fair was so much fun – I’m already looking forward to next year!

We’d like to say a big thank you to the BSN Family Association, who worked tirelessly for many months to organise a fantastic event for the whole BSN community. Thank you, also, to the many volunteers – the BSN FA, staff, and students – for offering their time and playing their part to ensure that the Fair was a resounding success!
