The Great Noth Run is the largest half marathon in the world, with over 57,000 participants from over 170 countries taking part. This year saw Year 13 student, Andrew Buglass, his brother David (BSN Alumni Class of 2014) and their father, run the 13.1 mile (21 km) course between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields.
David and Andrew are founder members of the BSN Running Club and were inspired to run to raise money and awareness to help fight Parkinsons Disease. As Andrew recounts: "The three of us trained for months and were on good form as we reached the starting line - however, it was much hotter than we're used to running in!" Andrew goes on to explain "The support from the crowds and a buzzing atmosphere helped us conquer the hilly course - I finished 679th and am very proud of my time of 1:29"
David came 108th in a time of 1:17 and Mr Buglass finished in a very creditable 2:12. Along with their personal achievements, they raised over €2,500 for Parkinsons UK. Andrew added: "Thank you to everyone who sponsored and supported us and we would highly recommend 'The World's favourite run'.
