With many variables that seemed against his odds, Sam Airey finished strong at the Junior World Cup in Collalbo, Italy this past weekend.
High altitudes, strong winds, and unpredictable ice set the scene for the outdoor rink where Sam competed; and after an obstruction from another skater, Sam pushed hard and managed to come very close to his personal records for the 500m and 1500m. Yet with all of these factors, Sam still finished higher in the rankings than in last year’s Junior World Cup.
Sam’s performance was resilient and determined, and we are all proud of him for his results.
The next important competition for Sam is the British Championships on 25/26 March at De Uithof in Den Haag.
Good luck to Sam as he trains and prepares for this next challenge!
