At BSN, we honour outstanding students from Year 11 and 13 for their academic and pastoral achievements during a special annual awards ceremony. It is one of the highlights of our school calendar, bringing together our community to celebrate all the hard work and effort our students have invested at the end of two important school years.
This year, on Tuesday 19 May, our annual Senior School Awards ceremony took place virtually - to great acclaim. Thanks to the creativity, technical expertise and hard work of many members of staff, we were able to give students the recognition they deserve in an alternative format.
Students, parents and staff gathered together (virtually) to watch a live stream of the awards evening. It began with a video showcasing the many highlights of the school year. These included our TEDx Youth event, Art exhibition in Antoniushove hospital, Blood Brothers musical performance and charity work with Project Africa.
This was followed by an introduction by Headteacher, Paul Topping and a speech by The Hon. Peter Wilson CMG, the British Ambassador to the Netherlands. As members of senior school staff then announced the awards, photos of the recipients were displayed on screen. The event also included a live chat through which many messages of congratulations and pride were shared.
Sarah Dixon, Assistant Headteacher:
It has been a pleasure to oversee the awards and we have enjoyed every minute. No matter what the circumstance it is always important to celebrate these special moments with our students and our community.
It was not quite the same as seeing the students collect their awards, but given the circumstances, it could not have been more professional or appropriate.
Congratulations to our award winners, we are very proud of you.
