What an amazing tournament! Our BSN junior athletes are now back on terra firma after an amazing few days competing at the COBIS Junior Games - a competition hosted by Haileybury Astana School in Kazhakstan.
The team travelled with PE teacher coaches, Howard Shore and Scott McRae, as well as Jess Apps and JSV Headteacher, Sue Aspinall who were thoroughly impressed by the spirit and determination of the team. The children worked together and supported each others endeavours, no matter which junior campus or year group they were from.
What was particularly striking was the encouragement they gave each other, even if they were competingwhen competing against each other in the same event. During the swimming disipline, it was impressive to see Rafae Shafi competing to such a high level despite dislocating his knee cap less than two weeks before the tournament started.
As Howard Shore explains: "There were so many outstanding athletics performances it would be unfair to single anyone out - the whole team were setting personal bests and raising their levels far beyond their expectations. The level of skill and beautiful football played by our boys was the talk of the tournament. However, the way our girls team bounced back from disappointment to win their last three matches, typified the resilience and fighting spirit of our whole team throughout the tournament.
