The British School in the Netherlands (BSN) is excited to announce that it will host its second TEDxYouth event on Monday 4 November 2019. The theme of this year’s event will be ‘Breaking the Mould’.
TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The X indicates that the event is organised independent of, but under license from TED. The BSN’s event is called TEDxYouth@BSN and will be held on Monday 4 November 2019 at the Senior School Voorschoten campus.
TEDxYouth follows the same format as a TEDx event, except that it’s orientated towards children and young people - the topics addressed should be of interest to and deemed relevant by the school’s pupils, who represent nearly 90 different nationalities.
The theme this year is ‘Breaking the Mould’ and it will follow the ideas explored during the 2017 TEDxYouth@BSN event (Big Bold World), looking at globalisation, the environment, sustainability, technology and education. It will be a unique opportunity for the student population and appointed speakers to have a platform from which they can consider not only current world challenges but also propose innovative solutions and ideas, however big or small they may be.
The aim is to deliver a dynamic and exciting event that will inform, inspire and unleash new ideas across the whole BSN community - giving a loud, clear voice to the generation that will have to live with the consequences of actions taken today.
Launching the event, outgoing BSN CEO & Principal, Kieran Earley, said:
‘TedX 2017 was one of the highlights of my time at the BSN and this year’s edition promises to be every bit as electric as our 2017 event! You can expect a day filled with brilliant speakers from across our school community and beyond, thought-provoking video and mind blowing conversation – don’t miss it!’
Join BSN students and staff on this journey by following @TEDxYouthBSN on Twitter and regularly checking the TEDxYouth@BSN pages on the BSN website. It’s where you will find information about the event, including speaker and sponsor application forms.
