Not all learning happens in the classroom
On Monday 13 November Senior School Voorschoten (SSV) hosted The Duke of Edinburgh International Bronze and Silver Award. Celebrating the achievements of students in Years 11 and 12. The BSN has grown to become the largest provider of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in the Benelux region. Bronze Awards given out were 84 and Silver Awards 64.
To achieve the Awards, the students had to complete between 3 and 9 months of community service, participate in a sport, learn a new skill and complete an independent expedition in Brabant, the Ardennes or Morocco. Students spoke animatedly about their humbling experiences at the soup kitchens in The Hague, skills of team playing they learned on the Rugby field and levels of resilience that they discovered while climbing in Morocco. The Award is integral to the personal development that our students undergo while here at the BSN as they grow to become citizens of the world.
Gold here we come!
