A Wonderful Visit in the Books from the Finnish Ambassador at Junior School Leidschenveen

On Friday, 17 February, the Finnish ambassador Katri Viinikka stopped by Junior School Leidschenveen for the third ambassador visit to JSL this month. The morning began with a warm greeting from the student ambassadors where she was then taken to the media room to take part in a round table discussion.

Ambassador Viinikka was welcoming and informative. She shared so much about Finland, the culture of her country and the unusual climate experienced there. Students and staff learned so many interesting things from her, such as: Finland is the first country to issue official emojis and is the birthplace of the well-known game Angry Birds.

When asked what you need to be good at to become an ambassador, Ambassador Viinikka replied, "You need to like writing and be good at it because you will have to write lots of documents".

During her tour, Ambassador Viinikka had the opportunity to meet Principal and CEO Kieran Earley and members of the International Community Platform (ICP) who were also visiting JSL that day.

The BSN is home to over 80 nationalities, and visits such as these remind us how wonderful it is to have such a diverse community.
