Senior School students had an opportunity to showcase their musical talent in this year’s Inter-House music competition, which took place on 4 May at Senior School Voorschoten.
The event invited student musicians from across the school to represent their house in a competition for the winning title. Each house produced a mini concert of around 10 minutes, with students playing instruments and singing in both solo and duet performances.
The winner of this year’s Inter-House Music Competition was House Gouda, with students giving all-around outstanding vocal, piano and duet performances. It was an extremely difficult decision, as each of the other houses put on excellent concerts, and featured a great range of talented student musicians. The competition was adjudicated by guest judge Mary Kelly. Mary is an Orchestral Viola player who has played in numerous orchestras across Europe. After enjoying all of the afternoon’s performances, she stated how impressed she was by the standard of performance and the dedication of students to put the entire event together.
A special thank you to the year 12 house captains, who oversaw the organization of this competition by auditioning competitors, deciding on programmes and announcing each concert.
