BSN Sessions, the official record label of the BSN, is proud to debut “Roots”, an album created, performed and produced by students – available now wherever you stream music.
Since the beginning of 2018, BSN Sessions has been a resource for students to learn valuable, first-hand experience about creating and distributing professional-quality music. Through this label, students can release music they perform and produce on streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, ready for listeners to stream and share.
Over the course of this Autumn Term, BSN Sessions expanded to allow students to fill more behind-the-scenes roles creating, promoting and distributing music in a real-world setting. “Roots” is the first album released by this team of dedicated students. The album was recorded at SSV Music Studio and features 3 talented student singers.
The album’s production was in the hands of 8 students divided into teams responsible for project management, administration, social media, marketing, creative direction and production (studio recording). Allowing students to fill these roles expands their understanding of the many types of expertise it takes to produce and distribute music in today’s music industry. These students did an outstanding job not only in performing and producing the album’s tracks, but in marketing, promoting and managing the entire project from its beginning right through to its grand debut today.
In 2019, BSN Sessions will expand further and introduce vocational qualification in the music industry field. Units will cover music business, marketing, copyrights, licensing, promotion, skill development for the business-oriented students. In terms of music production and performance, units will cover performing skills, music technology, composition, live and studio music production for the musician or aspiring music artists. We’re also looking forward to this album being released on vinyl, which will be available to purchase early next year.
