Celebrating Stories and Languages on World Book Day 2018

Junior 80 Nationalities

World Book Day was a day to share stories and cultures in the Junior Schools.

World Book Day featured a wonderful celebration of languages during a book reading event in the Media Centre at JSL.  Parents, international representatives, staff and students read stories in many languages, giving students an opportunity to listen to and read books in their home languages, as well as those of their classmates.

Each volunteer was allocated a country, and students were able to choose countries from which they would like to listen to a story and learn about cultures and traditions.  Stories were read in Dutch, German, English, Polish, French, Arabic, Romanian, Spanish, Chinese and Luxembourgish! Events such as these as so important to the BSN experience, as opportunities for students to share and celebrate their languages and cultures with one another is a valuable learning experience for all.

Many thanks to everyone who volunteered their time to give our students a wonderful insight into language and culture!
